Wings of Desire
Wings of Desire was founded in 2002 by Håvve Fjell (Pain Solution). Within the first six months Christiane Løfblad (Pinpoint Piercing) got involved and the two have run WoD as the Oslo based Suspension Team. Wings of Desire hosts the annual Oslo SusCon on the next to last weekend in July every year, and have monthly Suspension Sundays on the last Sunday of the month. We are also available for private engagements dependent on schedule, desired location, and crew availability.
Wings of Desire promote body suspension in a safe and relax ambient to those who feel the urge to fly, regardless of how and why people want to suspend. We are always seeking to improve our methods in order to work efficiently, clean and to the state of the art quality.
Wings of Desire is pro-education and strives to share our knowledge of safe suspension practice both locally and internationally. We are part of the annual Italian SusCon hosted by APTPI, BMXnet in Gemany and The Dallas SusCon. We’re frequently on other suspension related travels to teach workshops, give lectures and help out on suspension events wherever we’re invited.
Wings of Desire has had way over one thousand people hooked by our hands, and we are proud to be able to guide anyone with the desire through the wonderful experience of body suspension, first timers and veterans alike. We believe all motivations for suspending are equally valid, it is not our place to dictate your reasons or choices. We will, however, advice as we see fit and facilitate for the best experience possible, no matter what the purpose our goal might be.
Wings of Desire is a non-profit organization within the Pain Solution Corporation. We do charge for our service in order to maintain equipment and cover costs, we also aim to build up finances to invest in further research and equipment. All the work involved is voluntary.
Wings of Desire has been known to present suspension performance, and we are likely to do so again. But lately our main focus has been on facilitating and teaching safe suspension practice.
Oslo Suspension Convention
Oslo SusCon has since the very first year been an international gathering with two main purposes; first and foremost an opportunity to get suspended, secondly a meeting place to share knowledge amongst practitioners on all levels. The convention is also a social arena for making friends and networking in our community. Every year we invite guest crew from other suspension teams to work alongside our local team, this is a good way to show other how we work and to get feedback and learn from our guests as well. At the Oslo SusCon we cover most bases by having introduction to the weekend and suspension varieties by Håvve, guest speakers who talk about body suspension and other related activities, videos and photos from past events and live performance. There are areas for on-line computing, chill out zones and a eating area for common meals twice a day. The meals served are vegetarian and catered from the legendary Kafa Blitz. As of the past few years the after party has become a traditional conclusion of the SusCon with BBQ, Booze and Branding.
During the weekend the event is open to the general public. We have chosen to open the doors for outsiders for several reasons. Participants who want to suspend in front of their friends and family can invite them in the open hours, people with an itch for hooks gets an opportunity to have a closer look at how it all goes down, and the curious citizens can come and have peek into our colorful world of body mod and suspension.
Suspension Sunday
To meet the demand and requests for suspensions locally, we will as of 2010 be hosting Suspension Sundays every last Sunday of the month, (starting March 28th) at Blitz. These days are open for a limited amount of suspensions and are run on a first come first serve basis. Participants sign up in advance and will have to pay a deposit to secure a spot. For more information join Wings of Desire on Facebook, or go to Events on this page.
Workshops and Lectures
WoD are happy to give lectures and teach body suspension workshops. Within a certain range we can talk about any suspension related topic; Suspension Anthropology, Safe Suspension Practice, Suspension positions and rigging variety, How to Organize a Suspension Event, etc. All are presented with slides and illustrations.
We teach the following workshops; Basic Training for beginners, Follow-up for beginners, Structural Rigging and Basic Suspension Rigging, Advanced Suspension Rigging. All workshops include hands on training.
If you want to hire us for a workshop or a lecture, please contact: head (at) painsolution.net
Performance
WoD presented Flight #1 as the first performance piece in 2004, and has created a handful of different suspension performances since. It was a goal to find an approach to the presentation that would be nothing like the way Pain Solution presents suspensions. We found in interesting to work against anything that is expected from a live suspensions show. Rather than explaining we suggest you check out the Performance galleries.
